Sd.Kfz 223, Renault FT. May 19, 2017. This week we have continued mapping the interior of the Sd.Kfz.223 given the three sources of information available to us - research from Fort Benning, the Wheatcroft Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie body and our own inventory of large panels.

Max armor: 30mm. First 5 series of the SdKfz 222 had the Horch 801 chassis. Sd.Kfz 223 (Gerat 82)- "Panzerfunkwagen", radio version with large "bed-frame" antenna over the vehicle. Six series were produced from 1935 up to January 1944 when production ceased in favour of halftrack radio vehicles.

SdKfz. 223 Panzerfunkwagen, SS 49738. This was also the case in North Africa, where it failed to successfully overcome the sandy terrain. In 1937, a third version had been built and designated as the Sd. Kfz. 223m. It was fitted with a medium range radio and a frame antenna.

The Leichter Panzerspahwagen (FU) Sd.Kfz 223 was a radio car based on the Leichter Panzerspahwagen (2cm) Sd.Kfz 222 armoured car, and which remained in production for longer and in service to the end of the war. Leichter Panzerspahwagen (FU) Sd.kfz 223 captured in North Africa.

Development of the Sd.Kfz.231. The Army Weapons Department issued specifications for a 6 wheeled truck with a rear 4-wheel drive in 1929, to be used for scouting operations, with good endurance, range and off-road capabilities. Magirus presented the M-206, Büssing its G-31 and Daimler-Benz the G3.6.

Sd. Kfz. 223. An armoured car with similar features to the Sd. Kfz. 221, but with the addition of a raisable frame antenna and a 30-watt FuG 10 medium-range radio set. Later versions of the vehicle were equipped with an improved 80-watt FuG 12 radio set.
